Need Precision CNC Work Without the Runaround?

If you’re sourcing CNC machining in Dallas-Fort Worth, you’ve probably hit these walls:

  • Your regular shop is backed up for weeks and you need parts faster
  • Quoted tolerances keep slipping and you’re tired of non-conforming parts
  • Complex geometries get rejected as “too difficult” or priced out of reach
  • Material expertise is hit-or-miss and you’ve been burned on exotic alloys
  • You need machining AND EDM but can’t find one shop that handles both
  • Communication is painful with shops that don’t return calls or update timelines

Here’s the good news: EDM of Garland runs CNC milling and turning alongside our wire EDM and sinker EDM equipment. One shop, multiple processes, 40+ years solving exactly these problems for aerospace, oil & gas, and manufacturing clients across North Texas.

What is CNC Machining?

CNC machining uses computer-controlled cutting tools to remove material and create precision parts from solid stock. Unlike EDM processes that use electrical discharge, CNC physically cuts material with rotating tools. This makes it faster for most geometries and compatible with non-conductive materials like plastics and composites.

When CNC complements EDM: CNC handles the bulk material removal and standard features. EDM handles the hardened materials, tight internal corners, and features that would break cutting tools. Having both under one roof means your parts move to the right process without leaving our shop.

What CNC Machining Delivers

Fast Turnaround on Production Parts
CNC removes material quickly. For parts that don’t require EDM’s specialty capabilities, you get shorter cycle times, lower per-part costs, and faster delivery to your dock.
Consistent Quality Across Quantities
Program once, run many. Whether you need 10 parts or 1,000, CNC delivers repeatable accuracy without operator variation. Every part matches the first.
Broad Material Compatibility
Machine aluminum, steel, stainless, brass, copper, titanium, plastics, and composites. Unlike EDM, CNC doesn’t require electrical conductivity. If it’s machinable, we can cut it.

Trusted by DFW Manufacturers Since 1984

Choose Wire EDM When You Need:

  • Through-cuts and profiles that go completely through material
  • Stamping dies, punches, and precision tooling
  • Complex internal profiles with tight corners
  • Hardened materials machined after heat treatment
  • Burr-free, stress-free cuts on delicate parts

Choose Sinker EDM When You Need:

  • Blind cavities, pockets, or features that don’t cut through
  • Mold cores and cavity inserts
  • 3D contoured surfaces
  • Secondary operations on finished components

Is CNC Machining Right for Your Part?

Choose CNC Machining When You Need:

  • Standard tolerances (±0.001″ to ±0.0005″)
  • Fast material removal and shorter cycle times
  • Non-conductive materials (plastics, composites)
  • Production quantities with consistent quality
  • Cost-effective parts without specialty requirements

Choose EDM When You Need:

  • Tolerances tighter than ±0.0005″
  • Hardened materials that destroy cutting tools
  • Sharp internal corners (< 0.010″ radius)
  • Burr-free, stress-free cuts on delicate parts
  • Features in materials already heat-treated

    Frequently Asked Questions

What tolerances can you hold on CNC work?

Standard work runs ±0.001″ to ±0.005″. Precision work holds ±0.0005″ on critical dimensions. For tolerances tighter than ±0.0005″, we may recommend EDM for those features.

What’s your typical lead time for CNC parts?

Standard jobs run 1-2 weeks depending on complexity and quantity. Rush service is available for time-critical projects. Call us to discuss your timeline.

    Can you machine my material?

We machine aluminum, steel, stainless, brass, titanium, plastics, and most common engineering materials. Send us your material spec and we’ll confirm.

Do you do prototype work or just production?

Both. Single prototypes for fit-check, short runs for specialized applications, and production quantities. We quote each job based on your actual requirements.

What files do you need for a quote?

We accept STEP, IGES, DXF, DWG, and PDF files. For accurate quotes, include material, tolerances, surface finish requirements, and quantity.

What if my part needs both CNC and EDM?

That’s one of our strengths. We run both processes in-house, so your part moves seamlessly between CNC and EDM without leaving our shop.
